OUR CURRENT HORSES

BANNER, BONNIE,  BORIS, FLEA, GOLDIE, JLO,  KAT,  LUCKY, NINA, OPI, POE,  TOMTOM

HERE’S TO THE SCHOOL HORSES:

Week One – POE

15.3hh, 9yo Stationbred x gelding.  Poe has one of the sweetest natures you could find in a horse. He has helped a range of riders at WEC – from nervous older riders, who he has taught to trust these lovely animals; to keen young riders who he has helped develop a passion for riding and jumping. All whilst having loads of fun in the process. He is a true asset to the school and is loved by many of his adoring fans. His favourite things are jumping and treats.

Week Two – BANNER

14.1hh 10yo Kaimanawa gelding. Banner is the ultimate all round pony. His kind yet cheeky nature caters to a range of riders from complete beginners to small adults and more experienced riders. He was used at the recent Pony Rides at Claudelands and he gave many children a wonderful expereince. He has a mischievous nature and likes to push anything off the rails that are close to him – including his saddle! His favourite things are food and his best mate Casper.

Week Three – TOMTOM

11.2hh 20 year old gelding.  TomTom is everyone’s favourite face around the property.  His willing nature makes him the ultimate lead rein pony and is a stable star with our Adopt a Pony holiday programmes.  He can also be rather cheeky and is a true Houdini – he can escape from anywhere he is paddocked.  He will often call out like he is stuck, wanting someone to rescue him.  But don’t let that fool you – nek minute, he is in a totally different place – all by himself.  He’s a real sweetie and we love him to pieces.

Week 4:  PERSIA (sadly Persia passed away on Wednesday the 4th of December)

14.2hh 19yo Appaloosa mare. Persia is one of our longest standing riding school ponies. Her unique spots make her a standout around the yard. Persia has taught numerous riders of all ages the basics, as well as being an awesome pony for those wanting to progress with their riding. Her sweet nature has attracted her a fair few fans over the years. She has a “mare attitude” at times, but she really doesn’t mean it – she just likes to act tough. She is an awesome lady and we love her.

Week 5:  JLO

16hh 10yo Tb mare Jlo is one of our more advanced horses at WEC. She has a lovely jump technique and three great paces that make her the best horse to progress your riding in any discipline. She is forward and responsive and a real joy to ride. Her favourite things are treats and her best mate Persia.

Week 6: Goldie

15.1hh.  18yo cross bred gelding.   Goldie is truly one of a kind. A sweet natured boy who tries his hardest with all levels of riders in the school. Goldie is reasonably new to the WEC Riding School, but has made a huge amount of fans already. Goldie loves juming and cantering around with the more competent riders, but is also more than happy to help you through your nerves on your first ride. Goldie has been loaned to us by the lovely Vicki whom we are eternally grateful too.
